NOT BY OUR ABILITIES

Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 8:17-20.

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV

A new born baby needs the breast milk of the mum to stay healthy and when it starts walking, requires the assistance of the parents to guide and guard its steps to prevent it from constantly falling. It's not by the babies own abilities or capabilities that he's able to do things but by the assistance of parents. The fact that we sleep and wake up, work and amass worth, drive and come home safely, don't fall sick etc doesn't mean that we're good and it's by our might that these things happen. Even in the pandemonium that the world found in 2020, we're lockdown curtailing our abilities.

It's true that you're doing things on your own but behind the scenes and in the spiritual realms it's just by the grace of God that we're able to do everything we do. If we think we're been sustained in life with the salary we receive from our workplace then we're deceiving ourselves as most of the times our expenditure exceeds our salary but we survive. It's God who gives us the power to make wealth and therefore we must daily acknowledge Him for that. It's not by our might but by His mercy, grace and favour.

Prayer Starter: I've no power of my own and therefore will not take Your glory God. You're my strength and everything sustaining me to this day. May You forever be praised in Jesus Christ's name.

CHRIST'S BLOOD SUPERSEDES ALL

Scripture Readings: Romans 3:22 and Hebrews 9:11-22

And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Hebrews 9:22 NKJV

From the Old Testament till the era of the New Testament blood has played an essential role in the annals of divinity and humanity. During the redemption period from Egypt to Canaan the Lord through Moses instructed them to mark their doors with the blood of lamb to escape the angel of death. Blood mixed with water was also used to sanctify people, tabernacle and objects. Animals were sacrificed for sins. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.

In the history of the Asantes of Ghana, a King offered himself to be sacrificed for the victory of the Asante Kingdom in a battle. His sacrifice was only for a particular people. The animal sacrifices in the Old Testament only covered sins but did not bring forgiveness of sins. There was therefore the need for a blood from a sacrifice that brings total forgiveness, sanctification and justification. That was where Jesus Christ came to make that unique sacrifice. His crucifixion has brought total liberation and salvation to humanity redeeming us from the enclave of the enemy. What the other sacrifices and blood failed to achieve was accomplished by Christ. Come to Him now!

Prayer Starter: I'm very grateful to You Lord for the unmatchable sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross that supersedes all. May the blood of Jesus Christ continue to draw many to God in Jesus Christ name.

A NEW HEART AND SPIRIT

Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 36:26-27

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26 NIV

A stone heart is hard to accept and obey the directives of God or stick to His heart. A stone heart rebels against God and possesses a spirit not of God. we can't please or serve God with a stone heart and spirit as we'll be limited to serving Him with our own strength.

God is ever ready to give us a new heart and spirit but it takes our readiness to possess or receive this. He's given us the will power to chose but recommends that we chose right over wrong. Brethren, let's not harden our hearts but open up for a new heart and spirit from the living God in order to please Him all the time. We can't succeed with a stone heart and spirit. May the Lord give us a new heart and spirit as we end the month and begin new one soon.

Prayer Starter: Almighty God I open up to You today for a new heart and spirit to please You always in Jesus Christ's name.
